CURRENT Projects

  • Continuous PCR - Rapid Nucleic acids

    When would you need high-fidelity template DNA at milligram-scale quantities within weeks? During a pandemic. We are screening for the most effective DNA polymerases for our proprietary continuous PCR technology to meet rapid response requirements for RNA vaccine medical countermeasures. We aim to meet pharmaceutical standards of quality suitable for RNA vaccines to improve safety and efficacy. With a robust PCR platform, Apparati further aims to expand continuous manufacturing for rapid response demands in gRNA gene-editing therapeutics and cancer therapeutics.

    Enzyme Engineering and Manufacturing

    Enzyme catalysis is at the heart of our business and our technology. We need to make our products highly stable, functional, and at extremely large scales to meet unprecedented demands. Advancing the biomanufacturing of enzymes is a core function of our R&D activities. We are currently investigating different protein adhesion molecules that will reversibly immobilize enzymes onto solid support matrices without compromising activity.

    Magnetic Bead Propulsion

    Part of Apparati’s technological aims is to develop materials for solid-phase enzyme synthesis. The constraint with this technology is the cost of enzymes which have a relatively short half-life during catalysis. Apparati’s current strategy to offset the costs of utilizing high-value enzymes is by immobilizing enzymes onto the surface of beads and continuously resurfacing the beads using an automated process with magnetic propulsion.

    Sustainably-derived nucleotides at an affordable price. We aim to meet customer standards of quality suitable for therapeutics and PCR applications.

    LIPIDS

    Lipid synthesis was a major bottle-neck in pandemic readiness for LNP vaccine production. We aim to produce lipids sustainably, economically, and at a level of quality to meet the standards required for therapeutics.

    at-scale Cell-free Protein Synthesis

    CFPS can overcome many obstacles from fermentation if it was economically efficient. Apparati aims to make CFPS an economically viable solution to scale up recombinant protein production by developing cost-effective components to sustain a CFPS system.
